Christmas Time (a.k.a. Crafting Time) Is Here

The holiday season is here!!! After Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year because it marks the time when it is socially acceptable to get prepped for Christmas (my other favorite time of the year)! Christmas songs are now on the radio, holiday sections have popped up in grocery stores, and lights can be seen draped over trees – its a beautiful thing. Plus, I’m a total sucker for those Christmas movies (even the terribly cheesy ABCfamily ones) and full heartedly believe in the holiday spirit!

The holidays are usually the time when I get the most crafty, especially because I love to make the gifts I give. I remember when I was younger I would go ham on making cards and gifts while the Christmas clay-mation TV specials played on TV. There are so many fun holiday-themed crafts that make great gifts, and if you’re one a budget (like I always am) handmade gifts are a great way to save money! They are also more personal and make the gift extra special when they are handmade.

If you’re looking for a family-friend crafting project for the holidays, decorating stockings is a really fun craft to do. I made mine and Reptar’s with my roommate last year. You can really be as creative as you want – glitter glue and printed ribbons go a long way!

In the spirit of the holidays, I compiled a list of my top favorite Christmas songs to craft to. I don’t know about you, but I could honestly listen to holiday music all day. I narrowed my song list to a top 12 (because the 12 days of Christmas, obvi) in no particular order:

  1. Wonderful Christmas Time – Straight No Chaser
  2. Stay A Little Longer, Santa – Ella Fitzgerald
  3. This Christmas – Chris Brown
  4. A “DC” Christmas Medley –  Destiny’s Child
  5. It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year – Pentatonix
  6. Christmas Canon – Trans-Siberian Orchestra
  7. Baby, It’s Cold Outside – Margaret Whiting
  8. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Frank Sinatra
  9. Christmas Is All Around – Billy Mack (Yes, from Love Actually)
  10. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
  11. Its Beginning To Look Like Christmas – Bing Crosby
  12. That’s Christmas To Me – Pentatonix

I honestly spent way too long on that list…so many Christmas feels.

For the rest of the month I’ll be crafting away on gifts, so DIY’s galore should be expected in upcoming posts with hopefully some fun holiday baking, too. Keep your fingers crossed that everything will fit in my suitcase for my flight back home.
